God’s unfailing love

“Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You.” (Psalm 143:8)

How did your day begin today? Did you arise early and enjoy the peaceful quiet of the morning after a good night’s sleep? Or maybe you spent a sleepless night tending to the needs of a sick child, and you faced the day running on empty.

We do not know if David was a morning person or a night owl, but he chose to start his day looking for visible reminders of God’s unfailing love. It might have been easy to remember God’s love for him if he had witnessed a glorious morning sunrise, but if the night had been stormy and he was dealing with spooked sheep in the midst of a downpour, God’s unfailing love may have felt a little distant.

Regardless of the circumstances, David decided to trust in God first thing in the morning. Whether or not conditions were favorable for faith, David believed in God’s unfailing love - even if he could not see it in the world around him.
